Three-month internship at Stanbic Bank

After receiving practical software-development mentorship and contributing to real projects, Simon successfully passed the Stanbic Bank internship interview and joined the bank for a three-month internship.

Hackathon Winner | FraudLink Co-Creator

Through technology, young people can turn their academic knowledge into solutions for real challenges in their communities. Gideon and his team developed FraudLink, a secure fraud-intelligence exchange platform designed to support faster warnings, coordinated responses and stronger mobile-money consumer protection under the oversight of the Bank of Uganda. The solution won a UGX 15 million prize at the Bank of Uganda Hackathon@60.

Being part of a team that developed FraudLink demonstrated the power of using technology to solve urgent financial-security challenges. The experience strengthened Gideon’s confidence in building practical solutions that can protect consumers and support institutions.

Innovation story

Conrad Wagaba

Hackathon Runner-Up | Financial Inclusion Innovator

Conrad and his team developed a solution that helps protect people from unsolicited, high-cost loans by making information about Bank of Uganda-licensed companies accessible, including to people using basic mobile phones. Their solution secured second place and received a UGX 12 million prize at the Bank of Uganda Hackathon@60.

The hackathon showed how inclusive technology can help people make safer financial decisions. Building a solution that works even on basic mobile phones reinforced the importance of designing technology for the people who need it most.
