Our learners build digital solutions that address real community needs. Below are the projects current cohorts work through, and what each one sets out to solve.
Each project starts with a local need, ends with something people can use, and is built by learners under a mentor's supervision.
Training projectSmall community organisations track members, activities and reporting on paper, which makes records easy to lose and progress hard to show.
A web application for records, user accounts, workflows and reporting, with secure sign-in and a simple dashboard.
Learners practise gathering requirements from real users, modelling data, building secure forms and presenting a usable result.
Training projectLearning materials, registrations and announcements are scattered across channels that many community members cannot reach.
A content and registration platform with accessible pages, clear navigation and communication that works on low-end devices.
Learners practise interface design, accessibility, content structure and deployment so the result reaches the people who need it.
Training projectCommunity groups collect information on services and needs but have no reliable way to validate it or present it to the people who decide.
A data collection tool with validated forms, a structured database and reports that summarise findings clearly.
Learners connect backend logic, form validation, database design and stakeholder presentation into one working solution.
These are the project briefs current cohorts work through. Delivered community projects are published here once they are live and the people they serve have agreed to share them.
Mentorship and practical project work turn into internships, competition wins and solutions that protect people. These are learners from the Academy community.
Software Engineering Mentee | Stanbic Bank Intern
After receiving practical software-development mentorship and contributing to real projects, Simon successfully passed the Stanbic Bank internship interview and joined the bank for a three-month internship.
“Pivosoft Technology Academy gave me practical knowledge, meaningful opportunities and mentorship that helped prepare me for my internship at Stanbic Bank. The guidance, trust and time invested in my development played a major role in helping me succeed during the interview process. I am grateful for the journey so far and excited to continue learning and growing.”
Hackathon Winner | FraudLink Co-Creator
Through technology, young people can turn their academic knowledge into solutions for real challenges in their communities. Gideon and his team developed FraudLink, a secure fraud-intelligence exchange platform designed to support faster warnings, coordinated responses and stronger mobile-money consumer protection under the oversight of the Bank of Uganda. The solution won a UGX 15 million prize at the Bank of Uganda Hackathon@60.
Being part of a team that developed FraudLink demonstrated the power of using technology to solve urgent financial-security challenges. The experience strengthened Gideon’s confidence in building practical solutions that can protect consumers and support institutions.
Hackathon Runner-Up | Financial Inclusion Innovator
Conrad and his team developed a solution that helps protect people from unsolicited, high-cost loans by making information about Bank of Uganda-licensed companies accessible, including to people using basic mobile phones. Their solution secured second place and received a UGX 12 million prize at the Bank of Uganda Hackathon@60.
The hackathon showed how inclusive technology can help people make safer financial decisions. Building a solution that works even on basic mobile phones reinforced the importance of designing technology for the people who need it most.
Simon’s story is presented as an adapted learner testimonial. Maku Gideon and Conrad Wagaba are presented as editorial learner-achievement summaries. Internship, employment and competition outcomes depend on learner readiness, selection processes and available opportunities.
